These medications can be safe but they are not FDA-approved.  The safety of compounded medications depends on the source of the ingredients as well as on the compounding process.  Contaminants, dosing errors, and counterfeit products are some of the safety risks that the FDA has identified.

What should I look for in a compounding pharmacy?

Pharmacies that require a prescription, are licensed in the United States by the state pharmacy board, are staffed by licensed pharmacists, and are physically located in the United States are recommended.  

How long will GLP-1 medications be available?

Until there is no longer a recognized national shortage of these that medications.  No one knows the exact date that these medications will no longer be on the FDA's national shortage list but until further notice, they are available from our compounding pharmacy. 

What are the possible side effects of GLP-1 medications?
